About Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin – PMAY-G

The main objective of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin is to construct pucca houses with the necessities for people without a place to live and those residing in kutcha houses or houses that are destroyed, including electricity, water, and sanitary facilities.

• In the Himalayan states, North-Eastern states, and Union Territories (UT) of Jammu & Kashmir, the ratio of central to state cost sharing is 90:10, with financial assistance up to Rs. 1.30 lakh per unit. For Union Territories, including the UT of Ladakh, 100% financing is provided by the center.Under MGNREGA, beneficiaries receive 90–95 days of work and Rs. 90.95 a day for unskilled labor.
• PMAY – G beneficiaries are identified using the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) characteristics; these beneficiaries are then confirmed by Gram Sabhas. Rs. 12,000 is provided financially for the construction of toilets under the Swachh Bharat Mission – Gramin (SBM-G) or other schemes.
• Beneficiaries can select the style of their home based on factors such as topography, climate, culture, and other housing customs.
• Electronically made direct payments to bank or post office accounts connected to Aadhaar
• Under this strategy, the minimum area or size of the housing units increased from 20 square meters to 25 square meters.

The qualifications for the Garib Awas Yojana in Ladakh and Leh

• A recipient’s RC, COI, or SSC is required. The recipient is not permitted to claim ownership of a pakka home in any region of India.
• The applicant is not eligible to get assistance from any other housing initiatives run by the Indian or Ladakh governments.
• The annual family income of the candidates cannot exceed Rs 6 lakh.
• A normal government employee shouldn’t be a member of the recipient’s family.
• The applicant must submit a self-declaration affidavit that has been sworn before a certified oath commissioner to be eligible for benefits under the plan.
